People Love Bounce Houses

Today as I was perusing the vast internet, I noticed an interesting little website.  It was www.whatdoestheinternetthink.net.  On this site, you type in any word you want to.  The first the I tried, of course, was pizza.  The results were hugely in favor of pizza, and that is as it should be.  I next tried a simple search for "cars" and was surprised that people's feeling were overall negative!  Other negative items included taxes, Facebook, and interestingly enough, soccer.  So I had to look up my favorite topic!  I first typed in bounce houses, before realizing the site wasn't ready for plurals yet, and then searched "bounce house" to get this result.

So according to this, the internet is absolutely positive about the idea of a bounce house, and with only 0.2% dissent?  I feel like the overwhelming majority like bounce houses!  So have some fun with this little tool and maybe you'll learn some interesting opinions like I did.

Warm Weather is Getting Closer!

The frigid temperatures of Ohio's winter are slowly beginning to subside   As this happens, kids and adults, young and old are all scrambling for the chance to be outside in the sun again.  In just a few short weeks, the heat will be substantial enough to start thinking about hosting your Dayton and Cincinnati parties!  A&S Play Zone has already stocked up our inventory with plenty of options to help you and your friends have exciting fun parties!  As much fun as our inflatable water slides are, the weather won't yet be quite warm enough for those, but there are many other great options.  For home use, our bounce house selection has expanded to include more great moonwalks.  With water slides out, we still have standard inflatable slides in many different sizes that could fit your event.  As we head into the season of prom and especially school field days, our larger items, such as the inflatable obstacle courses, are being sought after even more, so consider calling now!  If the heat gets to be too much too soon, A&S also has a variety of misting fans and dunk tanks that can help bring any picnic or outing to a suitable temperature.

New Site Design!

Its finally here!  The new website for A&S Play Zone!  It's taken a lot of work, but it's online and looks great!  Some of the improvements include an updated logo, which now features a more polished look and the website information in our cloud.  We have developed a national rental number - 855-PlayZONE to go along with our two local numbers, 513-315-9110 for Cincinnati, or 937-885-5454 for Dayton.  You all probably noticed how hard we've worked on our social media involvement, and now our homepage banner includes a button for A&S Play Zone on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Wordpress, Blogger, and YouTube!  So you can simply go to our website to access our fun social media, or just search us on Google, Yahoo, or Bing.  We'll be there!

The next exciting update is a simpler interface for our different locations on the website, such as special deals, events, and our company mission.  We retained many of the ideas from our old website though so it won't be too overwhelming of a change.

By far, the best new update is the category item search.  Instead of using our old drop down categories or sliding product bar (Which is still located lower on the screen), there are clickable buttons with a picture of an item that represents the category.  Not only does this interface make it simpler to find specific products or help your child find what they want, it works well on mobile devices.  So if you want to find our bounce houses or inflatable slides in Dayton or Cincinnati, you just click one button and scroll through all of our bouncy options.

The Castle Slide Combination Bounce House

New Giant Inflatable Slide! 24 Feet Tall! Fun and Fast!

Today was the debut of A&S Play Zone's new blowup slide.  Towering at 24 feet tall and looming across our company's parking lot, I knew I was in the presence of something fun, something awesome.  The new vinyl glistened in the sunlight, and everyone stared up in awe.  Following its inspection by the state, the staff of A&S slid down the blowup object, and here come the rave reviews.  It was fun!  It was fast!  It's the best inflatable slide we have!  I myself climbed up the the center, sat down at the top, and went racing down.  It was a rush!  The 24 foot Giant Inflatable Slide is going to be A&S Play Zone's premier new item.  To try and describe it would be difficult, so the best thing I can say is to try it for yourself!  You can rent it for a personal party, graduation event, or block party celebration.  If that is not an option, you can be sure to find this giant blow up at local festivals, such as the GermanFest Picnic.

How Soon Do I Need To Reserve A Bounce House / Inflatable

I frequently get the question on the phone, "When do I need to reserve my item?" or "How late can I get my bounce house?"  There is not perfect answer for that question.  There are a lot of variables that could affect the answer I give.  Some items we have multiples of, while others we only have one.  Other than graduation time, when I would suggest you call as soon as you know what day your party is, you can usually get by with a week to a week and a half before.  Again, I have to reiterate that this might not always be the case, but often times it can be.  If you have your eye on a specific item, and have a few days you want to check on, don't hesitate to call us here at A&S Play Zone and run those days by us!

Kid's Fest at The Greene

Everyone loves the Greene.  One of the best shopping environments in the Dayton region, the Greene always provides a great atmosphere for enjoying the company of friends and family.  Although I have always been impressed by the Greene's level of quality and service, I did not realize they put on such fabulous events like today's Kid's Fest.  Here is the event listing from the Greene's own website:  http://www.thegreene.com/events/eventdetail/tabid/3371/articleid/3435/kids-summer-fest.aspx.

Well you can guess who provided the inflatables.  

As you can see above, one of the popular bounce houses was our Buckeye Bounce, which the hometown Ohio State Fans accepted well.  We also brought out the Spongebob Squarepants Bouncer Combination unit, which kids absolutely loved.  The obstacle course the Greene mentioned?  Also from A&S Play Zone.  The choice was made to bring out the child friendly Fortress Obstacle course, shown below.  

Patrons appreciated the tropical theme, as the weather stayed comfortable in temperature, and a gentle breeze rolled through.  As I strolled around the grounds, taking in all the sights, from the 1960's Batmobile to a display of the surrounding cities' multiple squad cars, I met the magician.  His name was David McCreary, and he was fantastic!  David was personable, funny, and most importantly, excellent at his magic.  I don't want to give away too much, but my favorite trick from David was the card trick with his wallet.  Here is Mr. McCreary's Facebook page, if you want to look him up - https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Comedy-Magic-of-David-McCreary/196171891771.  Also included in the festivities, was a wax hands station, a clown, and face painting.  

The other attractions brought by A&S Play Zone included our Dance Heads video station, and a Build-A-Friend stuffed animal building station.  Dance Heads is a unique booth style item, where, using green screen technology, participants have their singing heads placed onto dancing animated bodies, and sing along to their favorite song.  Upon completion, a copy of the video is emailed to their email address, and a picture is printed out as a keepsake.  The Build-A-Friend station featured animals of different sizes that could be stuffed with animal fluff, and dressed up with different outfits.  

Overall, everything at the Greene was a marvelous success, and we truly thank the Greene and it's staff for having such a great event!  And thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the fun today!!

Homemade Lunch Party

Working at a party rental and inflatable rental company has plenty of perks.  One of them, specifically at A&S, is the fantastic cooking by some of the staff!  On one warm summer day each year, one of the more experienced cooks on the staff takes the time to prepare a feast for the rest of the company.  Everyone is invited in, and a great time is had by all!  The food consisted of chicken, burgers and hot dogs  as the main course.  Some of the sides involved macaroni, seasoned corn, beans of all sorts, and much more!  On top of the fabulous food comes the great camaraderie of those working at A&S.  The workers get along wonderfully, and everyone can be involved in the fun games and conversation.  With a warehouse full of inflatable rental equipment, how can people not have fun!  Bounce houses, obstacle courses, dunk tanks, and every other interactive inflatable anyone could want is available for the employees to enjoy.  Of course, every day is a fun day when you work at a party rental company!  If you are interested in working for this fantastic company, we are accepting applications on our website at <http://asplayzone.com/index.php?p=apply>.

Bounce House Comic

Hueston Woods 5th of July Recap

Another fourth of July has come and gone, and a great time was had by all at the Hueston Woods firework display.  The hot weather drove many people to the beach, and the location to watch the fireworks from was idyllic.  However, staying cool was a major concern.  Even the water in Lake Acton was warm, and didn’t do much to cool the weary patrons.  What was cool however, was that A & S Play Zone provided five of their premier inflatables at a discounted price.  Voting was held on the A&S Facebook page for the favorite ride of the day.  The water slide, of course, took first place, and was by far the most popular attraction.  It was the Roaring River 22′ dual lane slide, and the best part about it was that it had cold water running down it’s tracks, making it popular among kids and adults!

Other popular rides included the Adventure Obstacle course, which allowed kids to race down it’s multiple lanes, and the 20 x 20 Extreme Bounce House.  Trained attendants were posted around each inflatable to assist kids in enjoying the rides properly.

What’s Hot Right Now – Velocity Extreme

New Water Products!

The summer has just arrived, and brought the heat along with it!  As wonderful as summer is, sometimes, the weather is just a bit too hot for a bounce house.  So what can A & S Play Zone do to help out?  Provide you and your friends with water items of course!  We’ve always had a great selection of slides, water slides, dunk tanks, and other products, but with the weeks ahead looking like a steady 90 degrees, we knew what people would need.  So we have added a new wet and dry inflatable slide Wipeout, and a new inflatable slip n slide, Surf the Wave!  Both items are fantastic for summer use, and are becoming increasingly popular!  Keep an eye out for posts about these two new items, and check them out on our website as well!

Summer Training!

The management of A&S Playzone invited its attendant staff into their newly opened training room for a night of reviewing safety policies and regulations.  The evening began with the owner of A&S Playzone, Tammy Chapman, describing specific features and requirements of the over fifty inflatables that A&S has to offer.  The items fall into many categories, such as bounce houses (or moonwalks), wet and dry slides, and obstacle courses.

Tammy first elaborated on safety policies designed by A&S itself, which strictly adhere to and exceed the state requirements and recommendations.  Some of the rules involve common sense, such as no flips in moonwalks, and no shoes, glasses or jewelry.  Attendants were taught these rules, as well as how to handle roughhousing in the inflatables.  The instruction included finite warnings that only a seasoned safety expert would know, such as to ensure that older kids were warned not to jump or push others into the mesh walls surrounding all bounce houses, to remove the risk of an individual tearing through the mesh. Continuing along the theme of moonwalk safety, the attendants in training were shown a fully inflated 15 x 15 moonwalk.

Tammy Gives a Hands-On Demonstration of Attending a Moonwalk

As the trainees gathered around one of our more popular bounce houses, Tammy began demonstrating specific safety checks that the attendants would be required to perform.  Depending on what surface the inflatable needs to be anchored to, attendants learned that they would have to check sandbags or stakes for proper anchoring to the ground and to the item.  Ensuring proper anchoring means ensuring that the inflatable will be able to handle winds without leaving the ground and endangering those in the bounce house.  Attendants did learn how to detect if wind speeds were approaching an unsafe level, and were told to deflate the moonwalk if this happened, reducing the object’s surface area so it could not be blown away.  In addition to learning safety measures, A&S staff described how to comply with state regulations.  This involves having a sheet with each inflatable that states the Ohio Revised Code, and a fire extinguisher.  When providing an inflatable to events, A&S also provides instruction manuals for all inflatables, along with copies of their dimensions.  Among many other topics that were covered that night, potential attendants discovered the difference between inflatable moonwalks, obstacle courses, slides (both wet and dry), and many other unique party equipment.

Overall, the safety training night was a fantastic success, and A&S Playzone and its entire team look forward to a fun and safe summer!!
