Do You Subscribe to our E-Newsletter?

At different points throughout the year, A&S will send out information about new products, upcoming events, and best of all, special offers!  Last summer, we had a special discount on summer items that people really enjoyed, especially with the heat being as oppressive as it was.  The coupons allowed a few schools to  try out our water wars inflatable, which ended up as one of the most popular rentals of the entire summer!  We also use Constant Contact to send out our emails, so if you ever want to stop receiving emails from us or have an issue, we make resolving such problems very simple.  Overall though, there are many great benefits from being a subscriber to our E-Newsletter.  If you want to sign up, we can send you information to help add you to it and make your experience the best it can be!  The email to send requests to is csmith@asplayzone.com.  We'd love to send you some information and offers, so let us know!

How Soon Do I Need To Reserve A Bounce House / Inflatable

I frequently get the question on the phone, "When do I need to reserve my item?" or "How late can I get my bounce house?"  There is not perfect answer for that question.  There are a lot of variables that could affect the answer I give.  Some items we have multiples of, while others we only have one.  Other than graduation time, when I would suggest you call as soon as you know what day your party is, you can usually get by with a week to a week and a half before.  Again, I have to reiterate that this might not always be the case, but often times it can be.  If you have your eye on a specific item, and have a few days you want to check on, don't hesitate to call us here at A&S Play Zone and run those days by us!

Kid's Fest at The Greene

Everyone loves the Greene.  One of the best shopping environments in the Dayton region, the Greene always provides a great atmosphere for enjoying the company of friends and family.  Although I have always been impressed by the Greene's level of quality and service, I did not realize they put on such fabulous events like today's Kid's Fest.  Here is the event listing from the Greene's own website:  http://www.thegreene.com/events/eventdetail/tabid/3371/articleid/3435/kids-summer-fest.aspx.
Here's what the website lists -
Wax Hands
Face Painter
Photo Booth
Inflatables
Caricature Artist
Magician
Scavenger Hunt
Obstacle Course

...and much more!
Well you can guess who provided the inflatables.
As you can see above, one of the popular bounce houses was our Buckeye Bounce, which the hometown Ohio State Fans accepted well.  We also brought out the Spongebob Squarepants Bouncer Combination unit, which kids absolutely loved.  The obstacle course the Greene mentioned?  Also from A&S Play Zone.  The choice was made to bring out the child friendly Fortress Obstacle course, shown below.
Patrons appreciated the tropical theme, as the weather stayed comfortable in temperature, and a gentle breeze rolled through.  As I strolled around the grounds, taking in all the sights, from the 1960's Batmobile to a display of the surrounding cities' multiple squad cars, I met the magician.  His name was David McCreary, and he was fantastic!  David was personable, funny, and most importantly, excellent at his magic.  I don't want to give away too much, but my favorite trick from David was the card trick with his wallet.  Here is Mr. McCreary's Facebook page, if you want to look him up - https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Comedy-Magic-of-David-McCreary/196171891771.  Also included in the festivities, was a wax hands station, a clown, and face painting.
The other attractions brought by A&S Play Zone included our Dance Heads video station, and a Build-A-Friend stuffed animal building station.  Dance Heads is a unique booth style item, where, using green screen technology, participants have their singing heads placed onto dancing animated bodies, and sing along to their favorite song.  Upon completion, a copy of the video is emailed to their email address, and a picture is printed out as a keepsake.  The Build-A-Friend station featured animals of different sizes that could be stuffed with animal fluff, and dressed up with different outfits.
Overall, everything at the Greene was a marvelous success, and we truly thank the Greene and it's staff for having such a great event!  And thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the fun today!!

Homemade Lunch Party

Working at a party rental and inflatable rental company has plenty of perks.  One of them, specifically at A&S, is the fantastic cooking by some of the staff!  On one warm summer day each year, one of the more experienced cooks on the staff takes the time to prepare a feast for the rest of the company.  Everyone is invited in, and a great time is had by all!  The food consisted of chicken, burgers and hot dogs  as the main course.  Some of the sides involved macaroni, seasoned corn, beans of all sorts, and much more!  On top of the fabulous food comes the great camaraderie of those working at A&S.  The workers get along wonderfully, and everyone can be involved in the fun games and conversation.  With a warehouse full of inflatable rental equipment, how can people not have fun!  Bounce houses, obstacle courses, dunk tanks, and every other interactive inflatable anyone could want is available for the employees to enjoy.  Of course, every day is a fun day when you work at a party rental company!  If you are interested in working for this fantastic company, we are accepting applications on our website at <http://asplayzone.com/index.php?p=apply>.

Website Work

Thanks to everyone who answered my question yesterday, or will answer it in the upcoming Facebook poll!  Me, being the master of questions, has another query for you all.  What would you like us to improve about our website?  Personally, I think we could add a search box, and we are considering doing that soon!  I think the online system could synchronize well with our office computers so we could be more in touch with our customers.  On that note, we could integrate our social media more as well, from YouTube, to Facebook, to this very blog.  In the most simplest of terms, how can A&S Play Zone serve you better?  If you haven’t visited our website in a while, it is www.asplayzone.com

What Inflatables Do YOU Want Next?

I promised that today I would have a new question to pose for you all, and I wasn’t lying!  As the summer rush begins to taper off a little and A & S Play Zone starts to look back at their inventory, we have a few thoughts.  As always, after a busy year so far, our busiest year ever as a matter of fact (Thanks to all of you!), a few of our older inflatables that we rent out have become damaged to the point where we will no longer rent them out to parties in the Dayton Cincinnati, and Columbus areas.  This is simply from many years of bouncing and jumping, and our bouncers take a beating after a few years!  Also, we look towards the Autumn/Winter months.  We see events like Halloween and Christmas coming up, and although we supply people with equipment for these events, there is more we could do.  Our months outside the Spring and Summer times are not as busy as those, so we always have a bit of a quandary.  We always want to expand and add more items to keep our customers happy and interested, but which direction should we go?
AS PlayZone has a large number of bounce houses (bouncers jumpys jumpers moonwalks moonbounces or bounce house, whatever you want to call them!) Combination bounce houses, but could we add more?  There always seems to be a demand, so if this is your favorite item and where you want to see us expand inventory, let us know in the comments!  Maybe your favorite attractions include the extreme or interactive inflatables, such as the demolition ball, boulder dash, or defender dome.  Tell us which item is your favorite, and we’ll look for similar items.  This category does include bungee runs, the mechanical bull, and inflatable jousts too!  A big section that we expanded in this year was slides and water slides.  We have 3 large inflatables slides that we rent out to parties in the Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati area, but should there be more?  Is three dry slides enough?  Maybe, because especially in this heat, the water slides could not stay in the warehouse!  Wipeout and the Dolphin water slide both entered our inventory this year, to team up with the Roaring River and Velocity Extreme.  Perhaps another mid-range slide or even a kid’s slide?  Those are my thoughts, but remember, all these questions I’m asking I want your thoughts on!
For now, these are all the items I’m going to suggest, and we will see what people think.  As we move forward in the process of transitioning into the later months of the year, we will get more specific with what items we are looking at, and we want you to help along the way!  Thank you all for being such great readers!

What’s Next?

Hello everyone!  As the summertime nears its halfway point, people have had plenty opportunities to see inflatables in action all around, and hopefully you have seen some of ours!  As we continue to serve people’s inflatable needs and party needs, we wonder what some of costumers think of the job we’ve been doing.  There are many many places to review A&S Play Zone online.  Of course, we do love it when people call us directly to thank us for the job we do, but posting online can help lead others to a similar experience!  Now to those places online.  The big ones include Google, Yahoo, Yellow Pages, and Angie’s List.  I’m sure there are plenty more, but these are the few that immediately come to mind.  Please let us know what you thought of our service.  If you loved it, fantastic!  We appreciate good reviews.  If not, we check these frequently, so we will soon respond to any concerns and possibly contact you to resolve any issues!  Thanks again everyone, and I’ll be coming to you with a new question tomorrow!

Milestone for A&S on YouTube

With the continued improvement in A & S Play Zone’s service, we are striving to expand our social reach as well!  Among the many avenues we take, from Google Plus, to Facebook, Twitter, and Google places, one website has proven exceptionally valuable to us.  YouTube.  In my opinion, the best site on the internet.  Why?  It allows for the most widespread and free meshing of ideas, values, and whatever else people want to share.  It also works extremely well for businesses, communicating the value of their products to their costumers!  That is how I see YouTube working for A & S Play Zone.  Many of the videos we already have are simply descriptions of our items, along with some that show our rides working to the joy of our customers.  We will continue to post informative videos such as these, so that we can better demonstrate the value of our inflatables, and what it is like to experience them as close to what it is like in real life.  Along with these videos, we will begin posting videos from our events and cataloging the success of each event and how happy people are with it!  The milestone we have reached today, is that we have eclipsed the 5,000 view mark on YouTube!  This is a small milestone in regard to most channels, but after just two months of dedicated work, the range of people viewing our videos has increased exponentially!  My goal is to always reach out to people who we support, but also expand so that people who aren’t familiar with our company can see what great products we offer, and what great service!  Overall, I want to thank you all for your support with our YouTube channel, you are responsible for its success, and remember to invite friends, family, and whoever to view our channel, view our videos, and support A & S Play Zone!  Thank you all so much!

Summer Training!

The management of A&S Playzone invited its attendant staff into their newly opened training room for a night of reviewing safety policies and regulations.  The evening began with the owner of A&S Playzone, Tammy Chapman, describing specific features and requirements of the over fifty inflatables that A&S has to offer.  The items fall into many categories, such as bounce houses (or moonwalks), wet and dry slides, and obstacle courses.
Training Night
Attendants Listening to Safety Training Instructions from Tammy
Tammy first elaborated on safety policies designed by A&S itself, which strictly adhere to and exceed the state requirements and recommendations.  Some of the rules involve common sense, such as no flips in moonwalks, and no shoes, glasses or jewelry.  Attendants were taught these rules, as well as how to handle roughhousing in the inflatables.  The instruction included finite warnings that only a seasoned safety expert would know, such as to ensure that older kids were warned not to jump or push others into the mesh walls surrounding all bounce houses, to remove the risk of an individual tearing through the mesh. Continuing along the theme of moonwalk safety, the attendants in training were shown a fully inflated 15 x 15 moonwalk.
Inflatable Instruction
Tammy Gives a Hands-On Demonstration of Attending a Moonwalk
As the trainees gathered around one of our more popular bounce houses, Tammy began demonstrating specific safety checks that the attendants would be required to perform.  Depending on what surface the inflatable needs to be anchored to, attendants learned that they would have to check sandbags or stakes for proper anchoring to the ground and to the item.  Ensuring proper anchoring means ensuring that the inflatable will be able to handle winds without leaving the ground and endangering those in the bounce house.  Attendants did learn how to detect if wind speeds were approaching an unsafe level, and were told to deflate the moonwalk if this happened, reducing the object’s surface area so it could not be blown away.  In addition to learning safety measures, A&S staff described how to comply with state regulations.  This involves having a sheet with each inflatable that states the Ohio Revised Code, and a fire extinguisher.  When providing an inflatable to events, A&S also provides instruction manuals for all inflatables, along with copies of their dimensions.  Among many other topics that were covered that night, potential attendants discovered the difference between inflatable moonwalks, obstacle courses, slides (both wet and dry), and many other unique party equipment.
Overall, the safety training night was a fantastic success, and A&S Playzone and its entire team look forward to a fun and safe summer!!
